 External Reviews
external linkBird's feature is appropriately titled - it describes how most viewers will react to this exemplary mixture of top-notch storytelling, visual razzle-dazzle, accessible humor, and involving action. The Incredibles is without question one of 2004's most accomplished and enjoyable family-oriented films. 3.5/4

external linkThis wonderful Disney/Pixar feature, about a family of superheroes trying to live a quiet life in the suburbs, is a classic that also feels modern.
--Stephanie Zacharek (Salon)

external linkWhat Bird sets out to prove is that animation can also be a medium for other things, like action movies, and he has created one of the coolest and most spectacular ones of the year. B+
--Craig Younkin (Lee's Movie Info)

external linkIf Pixar announced they had the cure for world hunger or a clean renewable energy source, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. They certainly seem incapable of making a bad motion picture. B+
--Rob Vaux (Flipsidemovies.com)

external linkFrom the absolutely adorable short cartoon before the film (a gem called Boundin’) to the last frame, this is an instant classic. Better than the other Pixar films? Time will tell. ... This is not just a wonderful animated film but also a great film in general, and truly a love letter to comic book geeks. 9/10
--'The Grim Ringler' (JackassCritics.com)

external link"The Incredibles" has the same jokey feel of previous Pixar films, but it's probably the most mature work ever to come from the studio. Combining Brad Bird's vision with Pixar's animation was a stroke of genius. Doing so had the one-two punch of a high-quality script and superior animation. Though the film is loaded with subtext, what comes through the most is the excitement factor, and on that level the movie delivers splendidly. 4.5/5
--Bill King (Movie-Gurus.com)

external linkThe Incredibles' pleasures for adults are many, from the physical and self-reflexive, verbal humor (characters reference the common trait among villains to “monologue”), to the1950s modernist interior design, to the references to 1960s James Bond films... 10/10
--Mel Valentin (Movie-Vault.com)

external linkAgain, this is a PG movie, and perhaps a tad too intense at times for the very youngest of cognizant viewers, but it should appeal to all other ages quite well, especially those who regularly enjoy television cartoon fodder on a regular basis. Fun stuff, worth every penny of the price of admission. 3.5/5
--Vince Leo (Qwipster.net)

external linkFall brings us another Pixar film, a cinematic event that’s become as predictable as it is highly anticipated. ... Also for the first time in a Pixar film, adults are likely to appreciate The Incredibles more than the kids. 5/5
--Christopher Null (FilmCritic.com)

external linkIn the grand scheme of Pixar's films, this is probably their least effective project to date. But still, this is the sort of movie that demands to be seen on a huge screen - if only to soak in the amazing effects and computer imagery. 2.5/4
--David Nusair (Reel Film Reviews)

external linkPixar's latest has been almost universally praised for its originality despite the fact that much of it seems remarkably familiar. 3/5
--Rick Kisonak (MovieWeb)

external linkThe Incredibles indicates a smidgeon of a decline in quality for Pixar, but it is certainly worth seeing, nevertheless. Major butt-kicking at the expense of lack of the audience’s sympathy is almost justifiable, in a way. 3/4
--Danny Baldwin (BucketReviews.com)

external linkThere’s plenty of plot, a whole mess o’ action, but, from Bird though, THE INCREDIBLES is a heart-breaker of what could have and should have been. 3/5
--Andrea Chase (Killer Movie Reviews)

external linkNever any less than fun, The Incredibles has moments of pure genius and some of pure glee as well. It spends a bit too much time on the action, risking becoming a standard genre film, but survives the rough patches to be one of the year’s best films and probably its most purely entertaining. Pixar, you’ve done it again. 5/5
--Robert Flaxman (eFilmCritic.com)

external linkI admit, there had been a certain amount of trepidation along with my anticipation - just because Bird and Pixar had both been responsible for fantastic animated films didn't mean they'd necessarily work well together. They do, though, and I eagerly anticipate whatever they come up with next. 5/5
--Jay Seaver (eFilmCritic.com)

external linkIf anything draws THE INCREDIBLES away from perfection, it is the pacing, but such a smooth overall execution more than compensates for a few dragging moments. 5/5
--Laura Kyle (eFilmCritic.com)

external link"The Incredibles" is Pixar's most sophisticated film in other ways, too, not just technologically, but in terms of plot and character. It brilliantly duplicates the look and feel of superhero movies, while also bringing into play the complex emotions of its characters. A-
--Eric D. Snider (EricDSnider.com)

external linkBeing a Pixar production, "The Incredibles" is gorgeously designed and animated, but it lacks the heart of Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo or Toy Story flicks. 3/4
--Kevin N. Laforest (Montreal Film Journal)

external linkClever, buoyant and surprisingly human, "The Incredibles" should get a rousing hero's welcome at the box office. It also delivers the goods to discerning comics and animation fans. It further blurs the line between adult and children's fare, making it family entertainment in the positive, non-treacly sense of the phrase. 3.5/4
--Jami Bernard (New York Daily News)

external link...original adventures such as THE INCREDIBLES are the ones that will have families watching them over and over and over again, over the years. 8/10
