Genre: Comedy, Suspense, Black Comedy, Satire

Tagline: Success didn't go to his head, it went to his neighbor.

Plot: Tim (Ben Stiller) and Nick (Jack Black) are best friends, neighbors and co-workers, whose equal footing is suddenly tripped up when one of Nick’s harebrained get-rich-quick schemes actually succeeds: Vapoorizer, a spray that literally makes dog poop, or any other kind for that matter, evaporate into thin air. Tim, who had poo-pooed Nick’s idea and passed on an opportunity to get in on the deal, can only watch as Nick’s fortune—and Tim’s own envy—grow to equally outrageous proportions. The flames of jealousy are fanned by an oddball drifter named J-Man (Christopher Walken) who takes it upon himself to help fix Tim’s situation, but only causes Tim’s life to careen more wildly out of control…taking Nick’s with

 External Reviews
external linkEnvy reminds me strongly of The Cable Guy. Both films are bizarre and unappealing motion pictures with bland, disagreeable characters stumbling through situations that even viewers with warped senses of humor are unlikely to find amusing. 1/4

external linkOverall, however, Stiller and Black get more laughs in their 60-second Academy Awards presentations than in the entire 99 minutes of this film. 1/5
--David Thomas (FilmCritic.com)

external linkA friend of mine was going to come to this movie with me, but he decided to sleep more instead. He's the one I envy, after seeing this complete waste of a movie... 0/5
--Brian Gallagher (MovieWeb)

external linkI couldn't help but wonder how so many seemingly great elements could end up with something so lifeless, so empty, so un-funny. 4/10
--'JoBlo' (JoBlo.com)

external link"Envy," is really a movie that's afraid of itself. Rather than explore the funny side of Schadenfreude, it evades it by taking desperate farcical tangents, as though the subject were too serious for comedy.
--Stephen Holden (The New York Times)

external linkBecause Stiller and Black are in the movie, it contains laughs, and because Christopher Walken is in the movie, it contains more laughs. 2/4
--Roger Ebert (Chicago Sun-Times)

external linkIt makes you wish the filmmakers had sprayed Vapoorize on the print and saved Black and Stiller from being wasted. C-
--Gareth Von Kallenbach (Lee's Movie Info)

external linkUnlike most DOA comedies, “Envy” isn’t a mean spirited train wreck. Instead, it just leaves you with a shell-shocked feeling as you exit the theater. You just can’t believe that something like this, which appears to be such a slam dunk, could be that bad. I’m sorry to say, it is. D

external linkBesides the movie being so bad, what really pissed me off is they left out the funniest part of the trailer from the movie. 0/5
--Brian Gallagher (MovieWeb)

external linkWhat the film desperately needed was someone to tell the filmmakers that not every little detail in a film like this is important, and it's better to keep things moving quickly and not give the audience time to ponder the inanity that has just been shown. 1.5/5
--Joe Rickey (Movie-Gurus.com)

external linkSuffering may build character, but experiencing ENVY only breeds contempt for an industry that has the temerity to put this drivel on screens and expect the public to pay to see it. 1/5
--Andrea Chase (Killer Movie Reviews)
