When it comes to satires of superhero behavior, My Super Ex-Girlfriend isn't quite on the level of last summer's Sky High (which, admittedly, had more fertile ground to explore), but it's not too far off the pace. After failures like The Break Up and You, Me and Dupree, it's nice to find a motion picture that knows where the funny bone is, and figures out how to tickle it. --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
"My Super Ex-Girlfriend" showed its weaknesses in its ad campaign - those early, short teasers made it look cute, but when the studio began to reveal all its gags, especially that super shark one, you just had to know you'd already seen the best the movie had to offer. C---Robin and Laura Clifford
Sadly, the talented Thurman flounders in the convoluted role, with Luke Wilson barely keeping his head above water (and out of that shark's mouth) as well. My Super Ex-Girlfriend is a cheesy bore that makes an airtight case for the "safety" of internet dating. --GARY GOLDSTEIN (Reel.com)
Breaking up is hard to watch.--Sheri Linden (Hollywod Reporter)
It's a decent premise for a film, but not much is made of it as Reitman and his crew play it safe every step of the way. "My Super Ex-Girlfriend' isn't awful, just thoroughouly mediocre and forgettable. And really, what could be worse than that. 5/10--Joshua Starnes (ComingSoon.net)
...Good for a few chuckles, My Super Ex-Girlfriend doesn’t capitalize on a creative premise to make an impact. In this case, it’s not you; it’s the movie. --Pete Croatto (FilmCritic.com)

...In the end, I have to admit, I thought My Super Ex wasn't all that bad. It was nice to see a movie that isn't your typical superhero movie and to see someone with special powers use them in ways that many of us could only dream of using them - especially those of us in a dying or already dead relationship. .. 7.5/10--Brendan Cullin (EmpireMovies.com)
Believe it or not, and I know it’s hard to believe, I recommend this film to anyone who goes to movies to be entertained and come out happy and content without feeling that they had their intellect insulted by frat pack, Will Ferrell-level humor. 7/10--Tony Medley (TonyMedley.com)
