McGrath had worked previously with several of the film’s cast members. He co-wrote the Oscar-nominated screenplay for BULLETS OVER BROADWAY with Woody Allen (Chief Lowther), along with acting in several of Allen's films, including SWEET AND LOWDOWN. McGrath also appeared with John Turturro (Agent Johnson) in QUIZ SHOW, and had directed Alan Cumming (General Batista) in EMMA.
