 Synopses for Brigadoon (1954)
1.An Enchating Fantasy of Music, Dance, & Romance!

Two American hunters, lost in the highlands of Scotland, stumble upon a small town not listed on any map. The village of Brigadoon, by virtue of a powerful prayer, only awakens for one day out of every hundred years. One of the hunters, Tommy, falls in love with one of the townswomen, Fiona, but is afraid to give up everything he knows; she can't leave with him without breaking the spell. Back in New York, Tommy cannot forget Fiona. He returns to Scotland, where his love is so strong that he calls Brigadoon back from the mists so he can join his Fiona.

2.Out of the highland mists comes a miracle of time, place and love.

Look on a map and you won't find it. Look in your heart and there it will be. Enchantment is a place - and a movie - called Brigadoon when Gene Kelly stars in and choreographs a lyrical film adaptation of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's 1947 Broadway hit.

Vincente Minnelli directs this ethereal tale of vacationing New Yorkers (Kelly and Van Johnson) who discover a Scottish village that comes to life once every 100 years for one day only. There, Kelly and a town lass (Cyd Charisse) share the love of a lifetime - a romance seemingly allotted just 24 hours. But fear not, there's magic and timeless songs hereabouts: "Almost like Being in Love, The Heather on the Hill" and more!

This Cinemascope production brought Lerner and Loewe's hit Broadway musical to the big screen with Gene Kelly and Van Johnson as the American hunters who stumble upon Brigadoon, the magical Scottish village that went to sleep in 1754 and awakens for just one day each century. MGM had originally planned to shoot this film on location in Scotland, but budget considerations turned it into a studio production, costarring Cyd Charisse as the bonny lass who wins Kelly's heart. Although it has never been ranked among the great musicals of MGM's golden age, Brigadoon has still got plenty of charm and continues to gain a loyal following. --Jeff Shannon

4.The highland village of Brigadoon normally remains invisible, sleeping in the Scottish mists. But one day in every one hundred years, the town magically materializes. And when that day of joyful celebration ends, Brigadoon vanishes from the countryside and returns to its slumber. There's only one catch: no native can leave the village or it will disappear forever.

A pair of American hunters stumble upon Brigadoon on the single day it's come to life, and when one of them falls for a lovely lass, he is tempted to take refuge there. But then a jealous villager attempts to escape, endangering the entire town... and destroying the wonder that was Brigadoon.
