Tagline: The most frightening thing about Jacob Singer's nightmare is that he isn't dreaming.
Plot: Adrian Lyne's JACOB’S LADDER moves in time and space between Vietnam and New York with hallucinatory force. Something bad happened on the Mekong Delta, on October 6, 1971, and it is still affecting war veteran Jacob (Tim Robbins) in Brooklyn as he attempts to live a normal life with coworker and girlfriend Jezzie (Elizabeth Peña). Director Adrian Lyne certainly works hard at trying to keep you off balance and it works to moderation with some scenes getting under your skin but it just doesn't pan out because the narrative just seems to jump about too much and the film doesn't seem to explore some of its themes enough. ... Overall this is a flawed effort that has some moments of greatness but just can't get a grip of it's disjointed script. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
