Plot: U.S. Navy pilots BEN GANNON (Josh Lucas), KARA WADE (Jessica Biel) and HENRY PURCELL (Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx) are part of a close-knit elite division of test pilots flying highly classified stealth fighter jets, referred to only as Talons. They’re the best of the best and they know it.Then their commanding officer CPT. GEORGE CUMMINGS (Sam Shepard) introduces the team to their new wingman — an artificial intelligence-based UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle), nicknamed “EDI.” Although Ben is hesitant about taking “the human pilot out of the equation of war,” Cummings orders the team to execute their first real mission alongside “EDI.” To their amazement, “EDI” proves to be a cracker-jack wingman and they successfully eliminate their target. But on the return trip to their base aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. CARL VINSON, “EDI” is struck by lightning. The drone’s brain expands in ways its creators could never have predicted. Despite Ben and Henry’s reservations, Cummings declares “EDI” ready to rejoin the team in the air. On their next mission against a nuclear-armed warlord in a remote Chinese province, “EDI’s” seriously compromised circuitry problems only get worse. Ben decides that the risks of the attack far outweigh the benefits to himself, Henry and Kara, (for

Overlong, disjointed, and rarely compelling, Stealth has the capacity to put viewers into a catatonic state. But it's probably too much to hope that the film will slip into and out of multiplexes without anyone noticing. --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
The blueprints for Stealth called for long-forgotten spare parts, and the end result will likely cause a box-office crash. --Tyler Hanley
Stealth, a dregs-of-summer knockoff, is too ponderous and inept to serve a comparable function now, yet the film's lack of thrust may be related to an absence of conviction about its own war-is-a-videogame clichés. C---Owen Gleiberman (Entertainment Weekly)
“Stealth” makes dumb movies look dumber, and this weekends $13 million dollar box office take is promising in that maybe we’ll never see the likes of this film again. Maybe we’ll see Rob Cohen move onto a dream project, where he finally does a documentary on his favourite hobby or what inspired him to be a filmmaker…okay, I’ve got nothing. --Jason Whyte (eFilmCritic.com)
So in short, while it might seem like a good idea to go watch the movie about the magical talking airplane, it turns out that's actually a bad idea. I know, it's hard to imagine a magical-talking-airplane movie letting you down, but there you go. D--Eric D. Snider (EricDSnider.com)
So we'll call this big, silly movie an example of Hollywood at its most bloated and vain. At times, I thought that Stealth achieved the butt-kicking status we expect from a summer movie. At other times, I thought the movie was as dumb as it is loud. And at still other times, I thought I probably shouldn't be thinking at all. C---Robert Denerstein

As directed by Rob Cohen, "Stealth" is a sound blast set to a quickly cut action video, interrupted by the dialogue of people not worth listening to. --Ed Blank
The acting is good, and the production values are high. But there’s no substance to the characters, and there’s also something else missing from the story although I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is. And since even the good guys have serious flaws, there’s little or nothing in the way of redemptive value here. Stealth isn’t as offensive as a lot of films, but it just isn’t a good movie. 2/5, 1.5--Brett Willis
