Plot: Casey Carlyle (MICHELLE TRACHENBERG) is just trying to please her hard-working single mom (JOAN CUSACK), who’s got her daughter on the fast track to Harvard, when she decides to do a report on the physics of figure skating. Having fantasized on her backyard pond about becoming an Olympic champion since she was a little girl, Casey is ecstatic, and nervous, to finally have a chance to meet the elite skaters at her local rink. What she doesn’t know is that her whole existence is about to be sent for a wild spin when it turns out that Casey’s smarts have helped her become a skating prodigy. Now, as she gets the chance to train with champion-in-the-making Gen Harwood (HAYDEN PANETTIERE) and Gen’s famously tough coach and mother, Tina (KIM CATTRALL), Casey sets off on a fun, comedic and life-changing adventure that takes her into a world she never expected to experience. Not only does she get a crash course in the glamour, sweat and tears of skating competitions, she also gets her first taste of romance as she falls for Gen’s teenage brother, the rink’s hunky Zamboni driver, Teddy (TREVOR BLUMAS). As she trains with gritty determination, Casey’s confidence begins to soar—but with the big championship looming, she is about to find out if she really has what it takes to leave her old

This movie is just about perfect for teenagers, and it's a surprise that even their parents are allowed to have minds of their own. --Roger Ebert (Chicago Sun-Times)
The acting is good. All the right buttons are pressed, although not to the extent that other films have done. This is a pleasant piece of fluff that will come and go without leaving much of a trace. --Eric Lurio
I know I wouldn't watch it again, but maybe the 14-year-old girls will eat it up. B---Eric D. Snider (EricDSnider.com)
This movie wasn't just made for 11-year-old girls; it seems to have been made by 11-year-old girls. --Kyle Smith (New York Post)
For what it is, Ice Princess works well, and that's more than most other movies of its kind are willing to do. --Jack Moore (The Movie Insider)
Pre-teen girls may very well enjoy “Ice Princess,” particularly if they go to it in crowds or--a few months from now--watch it together at a slumber party. But as I don’t belong to that particular demographic, it pretty much left me cold. C--Frank Swietek
To its credit, Ice Princess departs a bit from expectations. C--Robert Denerstein
"Ice Princess" will play to a narrow, if burgeoning, audience segment -- girls from 8 to 20, and the mothers necessarily dragged along with the younger ones. Oh, and a few tolerant boyfriends who will escort some of the teens. It doesn't have enough going for it to cross over to any other segment. But given its focus, it's surprisingly ... not bad. --Ed Blank
This is a mildly entertaining flimsy trifle with a lousy premise. It missed a terrific opportunity to present an accurate picture of women’s figure skating. 5/10--Tony Medley

I wouldn’t recommend dashing out the door to see The Ice Princess right now, but if you have a few spare dollars and a few spare hours, go ahead. B--Genevieve Toole (TheCinemaSource)
One would be hard-pressed to find any fault in Ice Princess’ message – how many tween-targeted films equally advocate physics, feminism, and athleticism?... --Kimberley Jones (Austin Chronicle)
