Fred Barlow (Jeff Daniels) is a door-to-door salesman peddling the "Super Sucker Home Cleaning System" which is a high-powered vacuum cleaner. Things are going well for Fred until his adversary and biggest competitor, Winslow Schnaebelt (Harve Presnell), begins to outsell him. Although Fred cannot compete with Winslow's flashy sales routine, he has a secret weapon in his assistant Howard Butterworth (Matt Letscher), whose youthful charm inspires Fred to do his best. SUPER SUCKER, a tongue-in-cheek comedy, is written and directed by Jeff Daniels.

Rival door-to-door vacuum cleaner distributors Fred Barlow and Winslow Schnaebelt battle for territory and survival in a "winner takes all" contest.
When perennial underdog, Fred Barlow re-discovers a long lost cleaning attachment, the contest turns as he and his team of misfits determine "non-traditional" uses for this attachment.
The result not only changes their lives, it changes the home cleaning industry forever.
