ALLISON JANNEY recently starred in The Hours with Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Nicole Kidman and Ed Harris. Her role in the multiple award-winner, American Beauty, earned her a Screen Actors Guild ensemble cast nomination. Her work in feature films also includes roles in Nurse Betty, Drop Dead Gorgeous, 10 Things I Hate About You, Six Days Seven Nights, Object of my Affection, Primary Colors, Celebrity, The Impostors, Private Parts, The Ice Storm, Walking and Talking and Big Night.
Janney can currently be seen starring in NBC’s Emmy Award-winning series, "The West Wing," for which she was also nominated for two SAG awards. She was honored twice with Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and was recently awarded an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series. Janney has also won SAG Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series and another as part of an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
For her stage work, Janney has won the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress for her Broadway performance in Arthur Miller’s "A View from the Bridge." Other theatre credits include performances in "Taming of the Shrew," "Present Laughter," "Blue Window," "New England," "Bad Habits," "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress," "Lilith," "One-Neck" and "Ladies."
