Patricia Melo's acclaimed novel O MATADOR formed the basis for the film--which begins innocently enough with a bet and a man dying his hair blonde. Creatively photographed with hints of American film noir style, MAN OF THE YEAR marks another solid contribution to Brazilian filmmaking.
