The film is based on the real life Gilbreth family of 6 girls and 6 boys. The Gilbreth children were all single births much to the father’s disgust. He was of the opinion that twins and multiple births were far more efficient.
The director of the film Shaun Levy appears in a small cameo role as a reporter asking Tom for a quote.
