Tagline: The theatre of death

Plot: A group of students plan to stage a horror musical based on a real-life series of murders which took place around the theater they are using. On the night of the dress rehearsal, the frustrated director locks the cast inside of the building in an effort to perform a full run-through of the show. But he has unknowingly sealed their fate when the key goes missing, and they realize that they are locked inside with a killer!

While a group of young actors rehearse a new musical about a mass murderer, a notorious psychopath escapes from a nearby insane asylum. But when the show's director locks his cast in the theater overnight, the madman is accidentally locked inside as well. Now, a killer with acting in his blood has gone berserk for the blood of actors (including several scenes that EuroHorror fans worldwide consider to be the most violent of the decade) and the stage is set for one unforgettable evening of shock, suspense and unstoppable

external linkI thought the plot was done many times before, but this is one of the few films that really pulls off the whole escaped mental patient thing well. ... Not a bad film. One of the better 80s slashers. Check this out. 6/10

external linkWith a not bad premise and a more well-fleshed out story than most slashers this had enough okay thrills and killings to please fans of this type of movie despite the fact the gore factor is pretty light for the first half, there's really no-one to root for and the final scene is lame. 2.5/4

external linkNot a masterpiece, "Stage Fright" is nonetheless a fantastic first offering from the man who brought us one of the best horror films of all time, "Cemetery Man."
