I thought the plot was done many times before, but this is one of the few films that really pulls off the whole escaped mental patient thing well. ... Not a bad film. One of the better 80s slashers. Check this out. 6/10-- (UHM)
With a not bad premise and a more well-fleshed out story than most slashers this had enough okay thrills and killings to please fans of this type of movie despite the fact the gore factor is pretty light for the first half, there's really no-one to root for and the final scene is lame. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Not a masterpiece, "Stage Fright" is nonetheless a fantastic first offering from the man who brought us one of the best horror films of all time, "Cemetery Man."-- (eSplatter.com)

Yet, somehow the movie still manages to make all of the brutal murders seem too close for comfort. In that sense this movie is a very rare, artistic species. -- (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
