It's easy enough to recommend The Prince & Me as a romantic comedy. The movie wants to be more than that, but the muddled way in which it divulges its themes occasionally makes it suffer from a split personality. --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
Would it send the good kind of chills down your spine to learn that the story’s outcome depends on finding a balance between dreams, responsibility, and love? Then boy, is this the movie for you. --Jesse Hassenger (FilmCritic.com)
No, this is not a memorable film. But it’s so much more capably made than others like it, that The Prince and Me seems considerably better than it really is. 74/100--Brian Webster (Apollo Guide)
"The Prince & Me" is an efficient, sweet, sometimes charming PG-rated version of the story, ideal for girls of a certain age but perhaps not for everybody else. --Roger Ebert (Chicago Sun-Times)
The only possible excuse for this interminable and hackneyed fairy tale is Stiles' real-life need to pay her tuition bills at Columbia University. --Lou Lumenick (New York Post)
The oddly shaped movie, directed by Martha Coolidge, doesn't have the backbone to sustain any conflict for more than a few minutes before collapsing into kisses and fashion modeling.--Stephen Holden (The New York Times)
The Prince & Me was converted from an amiable enough light entertainment into an unforgivably condescending waste of time. --Dustin Putman (The Movie Insider)

Ineffectually straddling feminism and the wish-fulfillment fantasy, The Prince & Me doesn’t do justice to either. Its target audience – and our sensible farm girl Paige – deserve better. --Kimberley Jones (Austin Chronicle)
Another frickin' princess movie aimed at tweens, "The Prince and Me" actually manages to find a little talent behind the camera: director Martha Coolidge. Clichés are everywhere, yet this sweet movie has a healthy amount of charm, and (gasp!) an enjoyable performance from Julia Stiles. B--Brian Orndorf (FilmJerk.com)
