CHRISTIAN BALE (Walter Wade) has virtually grown up onscreen since his first major film appearance in Steven Spielberg’s "Empire of the Sun" in 1987 when he was 13.
Born in Wales, Bale grew up in England, Portugal and the U.S. His films include "Henry V," "Treasure Island," "Newsies," "Little Women," "The Secret Agent," "The Portrait of a Lady," "Velvet Goldmine," "Metroland," "All the Little Animals" and "A Midsummer Night’s Dream."
He lent his voice to the cast of the Disney animated feature "Pocahontas" and stars as a serial killer in "American Psycho," based on the best-selling novel. For television, he starred in "A Murder of Quality," "Heart of the Country," "Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna" and "Mary, Mother of Jesus," which was produced by Eunice Kennedy Shriver for NBC.
In 1999, Bale was cited by Premiere magazine as one of the "Hottest Leading Men Under 30" and was recently chosen by Entertainment Weekly as one of the "100 Most Creative People in Entertainment." He has one of the largest Internet fan bases of any actor, and his fan club website attracts over 100,000 visitors a week. America Online consistently ranks him among the "Top Ten Most Talked About Actors."
