Tony award winner SAVION GLOVER stars as Man Ray, a tap-dancing street artist who becomes a 21st century minstrel. Glover became one of the youngest men in history to be nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in "Black and Blue" at age 21. He made his Broadway debut as the title character in "The Tap Dance Kid" at the age of 12, He appeared on Broadway opposite Gregory Hines in "Jelly's Last Jam," and in 1996 rocketed to international stardom when he won a Tony for his dancing and choreography of the smash Broadway hit, "Bring in Da Noize, Bring In Da Funk."
Glover made his feature film debut in Tap, starring opposite Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr. On television, he has appeared in "Dance in America: Tap!" with Hines and Tommy Tune, as well as on The Academy Awards, Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame and has been a series regular on "Sesame Street." He has also danced in a tribute to the Nicholas Brothers on "The Kennedy Center Honors" for CBS. In 1998, he choreographed the cable movie "The Rat Pack."
Savion Glover has danced on concert stages throughout the world, including the Moulin Rouge, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. He recently choreographed a work for the Washington Society for the Performing Arts in association with the NEA and has just received an Endowment Grant for Choreography, making him the youngest person in NEA history to receive this honor.
Bamboozled marks a return to comedic satire for Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Spike Lee. Having made his first movies with a Super 8 camera on the streets of Brooklyn, Lee also returns to his roots with a production shot entirely with digital video cameras.
