JARED HARRIS (Mac McGrath) has earned a reputation for playing varied and unique characters with continued success. Recently he completed the feature films Igby Goes Down with Kieran Culkin and Susan Sarandon, and Michael Rhymer’s improvisational film Perfume. He also starred in such critically acclaimed films as Mary Harron’s I Shot Andy Warhol; in the independent dark comedy Lush, opposite Campbell Scott and Laura Linney; How to Kill Your Neighbor’s Dog opposite Ken Branagh, and in The Weekend, another independent feature based on Peter Cameron's novel, opposite Brooke Shields and D.B. Sweeney.
For his memorable role as a Russian cab driver in Todd Solondz's black comedy Happiness, Harris helped earn the cast the 1999 National Board of Review Acting Ensemble Award. In 1997, he received rave reviews for his work in two films at the Sundance Film Festival. He played a homeless man in Sunday, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for its screenwriting.
He also produced Hurricane Streets, which took home the festival prize for Audience Award, Cinematography and Best Director (Morgan J. Freeman). Other feature film credits include Father's Day with Billy Crystal and Robin Williams, Dead Man with Johnny Depp and Far and Away in which he was cast as Tom Cruise's brother. He also starred in Smoke as Harvey Keitel's simple side-kick. In 1999 he went to China to shoot director Hu Xiao Ping's Shadow Magic which screened at Sundance in 2001.
The son of famed Irish actor Richard Harris, Jared Harris was born in London, England and educated at Duke University where he majored in drama and literature. After graduating, he became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has performed with the New York Shakespeare Company, and won an Obie award for his performance in the off-Broadway production of "Ecstasy."
