Envy Reviews |
What the film desperately needed was someone to tell the filmmakers that not every little detail in a film like this is important, and it's better to keep things moving quickly and not give the audience time to ponder the inanity that has just been shown. [read review] --Joe Rickey (Movie-Gurus.com)
Unlike most DOA comedies, “Envy” isn’t a mean spirited train wreck. Instead, it just leaves you with a shell-shocked feeling as you exit the theater. You just can’t believe that something like this, which appears to be such a slam dunk, could be that bad. I’m sorry to say, it is. [read review] D --Brian Orndorf (FilmJerk.com)
Envy reminds me strongly of The Cable Guy. Both films are bizarre and unappealing motion pictures with bland, disagreeable characters stumbling through situations that even viewers with warped senses of humor are unlikely to find amusing. [read review] --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
"Envy," is really a movie that's afraid of itself. Rather than explore the funny side of Schadenfreude, it evades it by taking desperate farcical tangents, as though the subject were too serious for comedy. [read review] --Stephen Holden (The New York Times)
Suffering may build character, but experiencing ENVY only breeds contempt for an industry that has the temerity to put this drivel on screens and expect the public to pay to see it. [read review] --Andrea Chase (Killer Movie Reviews)
A friend of mine was going to come to this movie with me, but he decided to sleep more instead. He's the one I envy, after seeing this complete waste of a movie... [read review] --Brian Gallagher (MovieWeb)
Overall, however, Stiller and Black get more laughs in their 60-second Academy Awards presentations than in the entire 99 minutes of this film. [read review] --David Thomas (FilmCritic.com)
Because Stiller and Black are in the movie, it contains laughs, and because Christopher Walken is in the movie, it contains more laughs. [read review] --Roger Ebert (Chicago Sun-Times)
I couldn't help but wonder how so many seemingly great elements could end up with something so lifeless, so empty, so un-funny. [read review] 4/10 --'JoBlo' (JoBlo.com)
Besides the movie being so bad, what really pissed me off is they left out the funniest part of the trailer from the movie. [read review] --Brian Gallagher (MovieWeb)
It makes you wish the filmmakers had sprayed Vapoorize on the print and saved Black and Stiller from being wasted. [read review] C- --Gareth Von Kallenbach (Lee's Movie Info)
