Plot: A legion of unholy knights from the 13th century, known as the Templars, are awoken from the earthly graves by a group of people who stumble upon the ground they were executed on. Now the Templars, whose eyes had been pecked out by crows, once again roam the Spanish mountains searching for the human blood that will grant them eternal life.The scent of a nubile camper awakens the corpses of the ancient order of Templars--a horde of 13th century crusaders blinded and executed for heresy--from their 600-year slumber. Revived and hungry, the sightless zombies rely on their ears to hunt down their victims, and unlike most undead, who stumble about in slow-moving hordes, the Templars ride horses and even trains in pursuit of the sweet, sweet flesh of the living. In the hands of a lesser filmmaker, this premise would come across as laughable, but Amando de Ossorio effectively creates a chilling, creepy movie. Sequel: RETURN OF THE BLIND
