Tagline: Protecting witnesses is a challenge. Living with them is impossible.

Plot: A by-the-book Texas Ranger Roland Sharp (Tommy Lee Jones) tracks down a key informant with the help of an ex-con turned preacher Percy Stevens (Cedric The Entertainer). But when the informant is offed, the hard-headed Sharp is assigned to protect the only witnesses to the crime – a group of University of Texas cheerleaders – by going undercover and moving in with the five uncontrollable college coeds.

For a guy used to ducking bullets and confronting heavily armed drug dealers, he’s now up to his elbows in poms-poms.

 External Reviews
external link90 minutes with a few routine chase sequences but without a single laugh represents a poor way to spend a looooooong evening....the film fails in so many ways that it's impossible to imagine it getting more than a handful of positive reviews 1/4

external linkThe one aspect of “Man of the House” that is worthy of notice is Vanessa Ferlito, who portrays the tough, sarcastic cheerleader... 1/5
--Peter Sobczynski (eFilmCritic.com)

external link``Man of the House'' never gets too obnoxious or embarrassing, but it never gets all that amusing or interesting, either. Is a scene in which a man buys tampons at a supermarket still supposed to be funny? Was it ever? 1.5/4
--Paul Sherman

external link... Man of the House fails to deliver much exciting action or laugh-out-loud comedy.
--Betty Jo Tucker

external linkWatching the movie, you'll feel really dirty. 0.5/4
--Debra Birnbaum (New York Post)

external linkMan of the House isn't even worth Tommy Lee Jones' dry humor, or the cheerleaders' very oogle-able figures. It's stupid, lazy entertainment that was doomed the moment the writers put ink to paper. 1.5/4
--Jack Moore (The Movie Insider)

external linkNone of the few who attended an opening day performance laughed audibly even once. And they probably didn't know they'd selected the best picture of a particularly bad batch of newcomers. 2.5/4
--Ed Blank

external linkIt establishes a good comedic premise, uses it well enough for 15 minutes or so ... and then finds it has another 30 minutes to kill before it's time to get back to the "action" part of the film, where the bad guys come after the cheerleaders C

external linkMan of the House is a comedy without laughs, and therefore, without a real reason to exist. 2/5
--Vince Leo (Qwipster.net)

external linkForget that the movie is essentially plotless, laughless, aimless and predictable; that the humor is stale and obvious and that none of the actors seem to exude any sort of energy; that the idea of a "man's man" being forced to buy maxi-pads stopped being funny about 22 years ago; that this flaccid farce exists only to tease the 13-year-old boys with just a peek at the naughty bits here and there; and that Tommy Lee Jones (god, why) actually produced this wretched fare. 1/5
