Paula Weinstein in Envy (2004)

PAULA WEINSTEIN (Producer) is currently producing “Monster-in-Law,” a comedy starring Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez, under the direction of Robert Luketic. She most recently served as an executive producer on the HBO movie “Iron Jawed Angels,” starring Hilary Swank, about the women’s suffrage movement in America.

In 1998, Weinstein partnered with Barry Levinson to form Baltimore/Spring Creek Productions. Under that banner, Weinstein produced a number of films, including Wolfgang Petersen’s summer blockbuster “The Perfect Storm,” starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg; the comedy smash “Analyze This,” which paired Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal; and Levinson’s “Liberty Heights” and “Bandits.” She more recently produced the sequel “Analyze That,” reteaming De Niro and Crystal; the thriller “Possession,” starring Gwyneth Paltrow; and “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” starring Brendan Fraser, for director Joe Dante. She also served as an executive producer on “Deliver Us From Eva,” starring LL Cool J.

Weinstein began her career as a talent agent before going to Warner Bros. as Vice President of Production. She then became Senior Vice President of Worldwide Production at Twentieth Century Fox, where she worked on such films as the comedy “Nine to Five,” starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton; and the prison drama “Brubaker,” starring Robert Redford. In 1979, she joined the Ladd Company, where her films included Lawrence Kasdan’s hit crime thriller “Body Heat.” Two years later, Weinstein was named President of the Motion Picture Division of United Artists, where she oversaw such diverse hits as “WarGames” and “Yentl.”

In 1984, she and Gareth Wigan partnered to form WW Productions, and three years later, Weinstein took on executive consulting duties to MGM’s Worldwide Division. She continued to serve as an independent producer on such projects as “A Dry White Season” and “The Fabulous Baker Boys.” In 1990, Weinstein and Mark Rosenberg formed Spring Creek Productions, producing Peter Weir’s “Fearless,” starring Jeff Bridges and Rosie Perez, who received an Oscar® nomination, and “Flesh and Bone.”

Weinstein later produced Lasse Hallström’s “Something to Talk About,” starring Julia Roberts, Dennis Quaid and Robert Duvall. She has also produced several award-winning projects for the small screen, including HBO’s biopics “Truman,” starring Gary Sinise, for which Weinstein won an Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie; and “Citizen Cohn,” starring James Woods, which won four Emmy Awards. Her other television credits include the HBO movies “The Cherokee Kid” and “First Time Felon,” and the CBS miniseries “Salem Witch Trials.”
