ERIKA CHRISTENSEN (Anna) has already established herself as one of Hollywood’s most talented and sought-after young actresses. Currently, she is filming “Riding the Bullet,” directed by Mick Garris, with co-stars Jonathan Jackson, David Arquette and Barbara Hershey.
She recently finished filming the independent feature “The Upside of Anger” opposite Kevin Costner, Joan Allen, Evan Rachel Wood, Alicia Witt and Keri Russell. Written and directed by Mike Binder, the film follows a mother and her four headstrong daughters, who must suddenly deal with life without a husband and father.
For her stunning performance as Michael Douglas’ drug-addicted daughter in Steven Soderbergh’s Oscar®- and Golden Globe-winning ‘Traffic,” Christensen shared a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by the Cast of a Theatrical Motion Picture. That year she also won MTV’s Breakthrough Female Performance Award at the 2001 MTV Movie Awards.
Starring in John Polson’s high school thriller “Swimfan,” Christensen’s memorable portrayal of a student whose crush turns into a dangerous obsession helped the film debut as No. 1 at the box office in September 2002. Christensen also starred in Bob Dolman’s “The Banger Sisters” opposite Susan Sarandon and Goldie Hawn and in Paul F. Ryan’s “Home Room.”
On television, Christensen starred in director Sun Krishnamma’s musical adaptation of Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights,” playing the saucy and selfish Catherine Earnshaw. Set to original songs by rock composer Jim Steinman, “Wuthering Heights” premiered last fall on MTV, featuring Christensen singing.
Christensen received the Spirit Award at the 2003 Annual Diversity Awards, an honor bestowed upon actors who have demonstrated diversity in role choices during their career.
