Many of the parts in A Nightmare on Elm Street seem weighed-down by the low-quality acting of its inexperienced actors and the sheer cheeziness of the film's music; but this is a definite case of the good well outweighing the bad, as the nightmare sequences and the overall tone of the movie prevail over its lesser qualities.
