Genre: Thriller, Horror

Plot: Avoiding Hollywood clichés, and displaying an imagination that is triple the size of his budget, Australian director Martin Murphy, in his first feature, takes on a teen psycho-thriller. Four teenagers fresh from high school and looking for a good time-- Emily (Lenka Kripac), Tracy (Alex Vaughan), Garry (Leon Ford), and Brad (Charlie Garber)--head off to a deserted island against their parents' wishes to indulge in sun, surfing, and sex. The mysteries of life and love are soon occluded by the growing realization that they are not alone. A meeting with the leering beachcomber Zippo (Steve Le Marquand), who warns them to get off the island, increases their discomfort. By the time the kids decide to vacate the place, however, they find that they are trapped in a dreamlike time warp where they are faced with some rather brutal revelations. The slow pace and the mysterious nature of the menacing force allows tension to build and characters to establish themselves, and the low-budget look is used in a way that recalls THE BLAIR WITCH
