Plot: The second directorial effort from Irish director Neil Jordan (THE CRYING GAME), THE COMPANY OF WOLVES is a psychologically themed retelling of Little Red Riding Hood from a Freudian and slightly feminist angle. Angela Lansbury is Grandma, who tells her granddaughter strange stories of handsome yet heavily eyebrowed strange men, spouses who disappear during the full moon, and storks and eggs. Also starring David Warner (TIME AFTER TIME, TIME BANDITS) and Stephen Rea (THE CRYING GAME).

While lush looking with stylish direction this doesn't quite work and is quite tiresome due to a confused script that grasps too much at straws to be intelligent. A couple of gory transformations and decent make-up effects, but not really the point here.... A literate minded horror/fantasy that never quite clicks. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Set in a dark forest, Jordan's first movie raised some eyebrows because of its atmosphere and stellar transformation effects, but the storyline is unacceptably confusing.-- (eSplatter.com)

A decent movie, but confusing and boring at times. Interesting stories and effects, but I wasn't into it. Rent this fantasy/horror film if you want, but I wouldn't really recommend it. 5/10--FrighT MasteR (UHM)
