Scary Movie 4 Reviews |
It's okay for a few cheap laughs, but better suited for late-night cable viewing than even a matinee ticket purchase. If you decide to sit this one out, never fear - I am reasonably certain there will soon be a Scary Movie 5. There are some things that won't die, and this series is one of them. [read review] --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
If you laughed at the dumb jokes in the first three "Scary Movies" you're bound to find just as many or more easy laughs in the follow-up. In some ways, this is even better than "Scary Movie 3"… but is that really saying very much? Needless to say, Hollywood should deliver enough bad movies in the next few years to guarantee that David Zucker's dumb comedy legacy will never end. [read review] --Edward Douglas (ComingSoon.net)
Seriously, folks, this is a film that managed to create teaser posters that are funnier than the film itself. Save yourself the cash or risk your sanity. Run while you can from the horror that is Scary Movie 4…soon to be the number one comedy in America while Slither quietly disappears from theatres. ~groan~ Remember, people loved Van Helsing too. 'Nuff said. [read review] --'Nomad' (horrorchannel.com)
...Despite my tepid reaction to this entry, as someone that enjoys the series modestly, I won't say that I'm not looking forward to the possibility of a Scary Movie 5. I just hope that they wait a bit longer for a better crop of movies to spoof before the cameras start to roll. [read review] --Vince Leo (Qwipster.net)
...is pretty dumb and even at 83 minutes, it wears out its welcome long before it ends–it is so exhausted for material that the end titles are completely free of bloopers, bonus scenes or the funny credits that fans of the genre have come to expect. Nevertheless, there are some moments that I am content to admit laughing at. [read review] --Peter Sobczynski (eFilmCritic.com)
Like most spoof comedies, Scary Movie 4 is a fun time out at the pictures, but the genre has become so unnecessarily vicious over the last few years, and has lost its way so desperately, that you end up feeling rather guilty for laughing at it. [read review] --Joe Utichi (FilmFocus.co.uk)
It doesn’t matter that Scary Movie 4 is merely plumbing the shallow pool of scatological humor, gay jokes, and characters continually racking themselves, smacking into things, or getting whacked by something... [read review] --Anne Gilbert (FilmCritic.com)
The acting was ok nothing to write home about there is a ton of cameos in the film which was funny to see in the film. Some of the jokes that do making fun of some of the big blockbuster were funny... [read review]
...It takes months to make a movie, and many ripe targets don't stay fresh that long. On the other hand, if you've always wanted to see Leslie Nielsen's naked 80-year-old butt, now's your chance. [read review] B- --Eric D. Snider (EricDSnider.com)
...It’s probably the weakest of the series, though, relying on tired, overused jokes, missing punchlines, and when everything else fails, a semi-famous starlet with intestinal trouble... [read review] --Mel Valentin (eFilmCritic.com)
Nothing here is red carpet, admirable entertainment, but compared to last February’s bottom-feeding knockoff, “Date Movie,” the self-assured “Scary Movie 4” looks like “The 400 Blows.” [read review] --Brian Orndorf (eFilmCritic.com)
...will make you groan, grimmace, yell "ewww!" but it'll also make you laugh; after which you'll grab a McDonald's bacon-cheeseburger, a large fry and a large Coke. Yum. [read review] --Brian Oliver (MovieMansGuide.com)
...So should I have any hope if Scary Movie 5 is in the works? Well, you know what they say about fooling me once, then fooling me twice. I feel ashamed enough as it is. [read review] 3/10 --Jeffrey Chen (WindowToMovies.com)
Clearly the laughs here are cheap, but sometimes that's not a bad thing. Cheap laughs are better than no laughs at all. [read review] --Scott Nash (TheMovieBuffs.com)
Frankly, even if the humor were more consistent, time has really passed by Scary Movie 4 and its ilk... [read review] --PAM GRADY (Reel.com)
More of the same but not half bad. [read review] --Kirk Honeycutt (Hollywod Reporter)
