You might feel safe…but just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it’s not there. Watching. Waiting. Existing at the fragile boundaries of our perception. There is a world around us, a world most of us never see – or never want to see.

As a child, Edward Carnby was given irrefutable proof of that world. He hasn’t slept well since. Now, twenty years later, Edward is a paranormal investigator. When the irrational and the inexplicable become undeniable, he is there. He is not out to change your mind. But he may be the only one who can save your life.

Now, the greatest mystery of Edward’s past is about to become the most dangerous case he has ever faced. Nineteen people have disappeared, and they have only one thing in common – each one grew up in the same orphanage as Edward. Looking for answers, Edward learns that an ancient artifact of considerable power has been discovered in a long-lost shipwreck. Amidst mounting danger, he turns to Aline Cedrac, a brilliant anthropologist who’s also his ex-flame – and the only person he really trusts.

I’d like to congratulate Dr. Uwe Boll for he has accomplished a feat I thought could never be tampered with- he has joined Ed Wood as one of the worst filmmakers of all time. But let’s talk about HOW you achieve that goal. You have to think you’re brilliant, talk like a genius and hype up your stuff so much that when your movie hits theaters people think you’re retarded or just insane- maybe both. 

I am now firmly convinced that Uwe Boll is a moron who should not be allowed near a camera -- at least not one with film in it.

Honestly, I have no idea what the hell was going on at any point in this movie. None of it makes even the slightest bit of sense. This is one of those movies where you can only describe the plot by saying "things happen" because there is little rhyme or reason as to how or why most of what is happening is happening.

The boredom factor remains firmly in place throughout, despite attempts to rouse us. Action scenes are filmed in tight frames or in the dark so you can’t follow anything except the flash of bullets, and random characters we don’t care about get extensivetime facing off with apparitions/zombies/goblins.....Alone in the Dark is still an improvement on House of the Dead.

This is a film about the mysteries of sleep, tortured orphans, unexplained phenomena, archeological expeditions, an ancient civilization, lizard monsters (that are said to inexplicably fulfill the protagonist's destiny), martial arts, zombies, governmentconspiracies, and Tara Reid's breasts...It's interesting how bad Alone in the Dark is.
