Wych Kaosayananda in Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever (2002)
KAOS (Director / Producer), originally from Thailand, is a young filmmaker making his Hollywood debut with Ballistic:Ecks vs. Sever.
Still in his 20s, Kaos is truly a citizen of the world. Born in Bangkok to parents in the Thai diplomatic corps, Kaos grew up in Moscow, Copenhagen, Islamabad and New Zealand before moving to America to attend Emerson College in Boston, where he graduated with a degree in film in 1996. He also adopted the professional name Kaos, which is an abbreviation of his Thai surname, given to him by his film school classmates.
Returning to his native Bangkok, Kaos wrote the original screenplay Fha in 10 days and, armed with a budget breakdown and 15 pages of storyboards, took his project to a local film studio. A month later, Fha was green-lit with a $550,000 budget and a cast featuring the biggest stars in Thailand, with Kaos as director. The movie opened in Thailand in 1998 and remains one of the top-ten highest-grossing films of the last five years.
When his parents took him to his first movie, Jaws, at the age of eight, it inspired in Kaos a lifelong passion for film and, ultimately, filmmaking. Living in foreign embassies around the world as an only child, he took refuge and delight in immersing himself in the world of movies. Directors he credits for influencing his sense of cinema include Steven Spielberg, John Woo, Michael Mann, Michael Bay and Hong Kong’s Wong Kar-Wai.
