Eddie Murphy in Showtime (2002) EDDIE MURPHY (Trey Sellars) began his career as a stand-up comedian 25 years ago. He joined the cast of Saturday Night Live at the age of nineteen in 1980 and since then has gone on to establish a successful career on the silver screen. His film grosses are among the highest in the industry. Among his many film credits are 48 Hours, Trading Places, Dr. Doolittle, Coming to America and the Beverly Hills Cop series. In 1989 he made his directorial debut with Harlem Nights, a period comedy he also wrote and starred in, opposite Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx. In 1996, he portrayed seven different characters in the worldwide box-office smash The Nutty Professor. Murphy starred in and produced the hit comedy Life, co-starring Martin Lawrence, starred in the hit comedy Bowfinger, opposite Steve Martin, and was the voice of Mushu the Dragon in the animated hit Mulan. More recently, Murphy starred in Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, co-starring Janet Jackson; Dr. Doolittle 2; and his voice was featured, along with the voices of Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, in the animated DreamWorks' hit Shrek. Murphy will next be seen starring in Pluto Nash and is currently filming I Spy. He is also scheduled to re-team with producer Brain Grazer for Universal and Imagine on The Incredible Shrinking Man.
