Eddie Murphy in Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000)
EDDIE MURPHY (Professor Sherman Klump/ Mama/Papa/Ernie/Granny/ Buddy Love/ Executive Producer) began his career as a stand-up comedian 24 years ago. He joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1981 and since then has gone on to establish a successful career on the silver screen.
Among his many film credits are: Trading Places; Beverly Hills Cop; 48 Hrs.; which led to the blockbuster sequels Beverly Hills Cop II and Another 48 Hrs.; as well as Boomerang; The Distinguished Gentleman; Golden Child; and Raw; among others.
Murphy portrayed four different characters in Coming to America in 1988. The following year, he made his directorial debut with Harlem Nights, a period comedy he wrote and starred in, opposite Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx. And in 1996, he portrayed seven different characters in the worldwide box-office smash The Nutty Professor.
More recently he starred in and produced Life, co starring Martin Lawrence; the box-office hit Dr. Dolittle; the hit comedy Bowfinger, opposite Steve Martin; and as the voice of Mushu the Dragon in the animated hit Mulan.
Murphy will next be seen in Pluto Nash and his voice will be featured, along with Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, in DreamWorks' Shrek, and he is scheduled to begin production on the sequel to Dr. Dolittle. In addition, he will reteam with director Peter Segal and producer Brian Grazer for Universal and Imagine on The Incredible Shrinking Man.
