Woody Allen's return to humor isn't as perfect as his earlier comedies, but if you're a fan of Allen's schtick and want to watch Scarlett Johansson taking one step closer to being Diane Keaton, then you should be able to get more than enough laughs out of "Scoop" to make up for its imperfections. The actual murder mystery often takes a back seat to the comedy and drives to a rather predictable end, but it is the getting there that is all the fun. “Scoop” is Woody in good, funny form..."Scoop" may not be on a par with the prolific director's best, earlier comedies, but it is a treat to see him having so much fun in his own element, thumbing his nose at the grim reaper. The comedy is flat, the mystery is flatter, and the drama couldn't be leavened with a whole packet of yeast. Time will tell whether Match Point or Scoop is the aberration, but recent evidence suggests a disquieting verdict. [read review] --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
A minor but amusing Woody Allen enhanced by his newfound love for London life. [read review] --Kirk Honeycutt (Hollywod Reporter)
