She's the Man Reviews |
...not just bad, it may actually be able to kill brain cells. Though, if given the chance of going quickly and having to sit through Ms Byne’s repeated proofs that her career can only be explained by a pact with Satan, what cell wouldn’t choose the former? [read review] --Andrea Chase (Killer Movie Reviews)
...While that might have been predictable, because it is, after all, a movie about high school, I was utterly amazed when I found myself being thoroughly entertained by what at first glance looks like a frivolous teeny-bopper movie. Well, that’s what it is. But it is a frivolous teeny-bopper movie that amused this adult, and I’m not that easy. [read review] 7/10 --Tony Medley (TonyMedley.com)
Of course, the film is filled with disposable, tuneless pop punk music, montages upon montages, and an ending that incorporates both “the big game” and a formalwear event; but there’s a bliss to Bynes’s performance, and “She’s the Man” in general, that’scompletely unexpected, and warmly welcomed. Maybe Shakespeare would’ve approved after all. [read review] --Brian Orndorf (eFilmCritic.com)
Clearly this is not a movie aiming for realism. It is aiming to be a light hearted comedy that will be most enjoyed by young girls, and at that it succeeds. However, I'm not so jaded that I can't admit that I found quite a few laughs here myself. [read review] --Scott Nash (TheMovieBuffs.com)
...The semblance of the story, a few character and location names are ported over, but that’s about it, really; the whole movie is a noisy teen comedy to keep the young crowd entertained on a Friday night and nothing more. [read review] --Jason Whyte (eFilmCritic.com)
But great acting chops are no defense against bad directing and even worse writing. The cast is trapped, forever doomed to have this as an entry on their resume. Simply put, this is horrible. [read review] --PAM GRADY (Reel.com)
Some movies are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. For She's the Man, the answer to the multiple choice question is (d): none of the above. [read review] --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
...Teenage girls will love it, their parents will tolerate it, and the studio will turn a profit. What more could you ask for? [read review] --Jason Zingale (Bullz-eye.com)
A funny look at an updated Shakespeare play! Amanda Bynes shines throughout the film! [read review] --Steven Chupnick (MovieWeb)
