Plot: Two frisky teenage couples decide to spend a night inside the spooky funhouse of a traveling carnival, in this horror treat from cult director Tobe Hooper ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"). Once inside, they find that there is no way out of this deadly hall of mirrors -- with its white-trash zombies, sexual assaults and relentlessly gruesome murders.

external linkIt's not all for naught as this is decently shot by Hooper, has a decent axe moment and sports a fine peformance by Kevin Conway but this just fails to have any suspense, treads too closely to slasher movie conventions and has a killer with such a poor make-up job it just can't rise above dull. 2/4

external linkThere's some neat stuff going on here (including a combined Halloween/Psycho reference), but the funhouse setting--which should have been wonderfully macabre--fails to pay off. Still, it's well-made. 58/100

external linkPerhaps the biggest weakness of this film is the low body count. After all, it is a slasher film. Here, we've only got four teens. It also takes a good long time for the action to pick up.

external linkHighly entertaining slasher flick which looks as if it was made just recently, in other words, not your typical 80s slasher flick. It's got good production values and a strong cast which you instantly root for so if you still haven't seen this one, don'twait any longer! 4/5
