Twentysomething Los Angeles house painter Sean (Chris McKenna) leads an aimless, mundane existence. But when he meets a shady electrician (George Wendt) who hooks him up with building contractor/crime boss Ray (Daniel Baldwin), Sean is offered cash for following an accountant (Ron Livingston). Sean takes the job, seeing it as a way to alleviate his boredom--and is soon offered the job of killing the man. He successfully pulls off the hit, only to have Ray's goons deal him an extremely lengthy and disfiguring beating in an attempt to erase all evidence of the crime. But Sean is tougher than they estimate, and he still has enough energy for revenge... A solid genre effort by Stuart Gordon (RE-ANIMATOR, HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS), KING OF THE ANTS is violent thriller with a surprising amount of dark humor.
