Friday the 13th Reviews |
Friday the 13th isn't great, but when it doesn't give in to its excesses, it does feature some decent macabre touches. ... Even the writing wasn't too bad at parts; Some of the dialogue is actually inane in a realistic way, as opposed to just being inane. [read review] 54/100 --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Sure, the dialogue is a little weak at times, but the story (which we discover is only the tip of the iceberg) and characters make this one a lot of fun. See where the legend began... and don't think it's over until the credits roll... [read review] --Ted Geoghegan (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
The only creative flourish in this film is the plot-twist ending, which may surprise newcomers to the genre even today. Other than that, you might be well advised to rent one of the sequels instead, because blecch! [read review] --Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
It suffers a little from a bit of a slow first half and some really bad comic relief and it's not that suspenseful or terribly thrilling but it is a watchable effort of historical signifigance. [read review] -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Personally, I think this film runs really smoothly and is very entertaining and genuinely scary, so to speak. I strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. [read review] -- (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
Easily the best in the series, the film manages to be quite scary, although it doesn't have the fast pace we get from corporate fear films today. [read review] -- (eSplatter.com)
Classic but forgettable teen-camp slasher. Bad acting, lame plot but good gore and an amusing climax. Worth a look for curiosity's sake. [read review] --Slicer-Dicer (SlasherPool)
