Plot: Paul Jones stars in this offbeat Hammer production as Count Zorn, a deranged baron who believes that his family line is infected with a hereditary curse. Hoping to cure the curse once and for all, Zorn locks his two adult children in his castle and subjects them to a series of bleedings, hoping to let out the disease. Meanwhile, the Count's town becomes enraged when a number of peasant women are found raped and murdered on Zorn's estate. Atmospheric and creepy, DEMONS OF THE MIND is a thoughtful thriller that features a chilling and grisly finale.

external linkRich photographed and well-acted, "Demons of the Mind" is the best Hammer film of the 1970s. It's a little too serious for mainstream audiences, but sick intellectuals should get a kick out of it.
