Plot: As Slither begins, we are introduced to one of the few leaders of Wheelsy’s pack—successful, albeit oafish, local businessman Grant Grant (MICHAEL ROOKER). With beautiful young wife Starla (ELIZABETH BANKS), a large house and fat bank account, Grant truly relishes his “big fish-small pond” role in the town. Other than the fact that the passionate love he feels for his woman goes completely unrequited, he’s a man content. But things are about to change for Grant in ways no one could have ever imagined. On a humdrum evening, Grant hits the local honky-tonk for an all-night bender. There he encounters Brenda Gutierrez (BRENDA JAMES), the younger sister of an old girlfriend, who’s more than willing to listen to Grant’s woes. Abandoning their drinks for a moonlight stroll, the pair discovers something slimy in the woods behind the bar. Near the remains of what appears to be a meteor, Grant and Brenda find a trail of glistening, noxious ooze and a pulsating, unidentifiable mass. Suddenly, the glob comes to life and overtakes Grant, penetrating his body with a pustule-covered tentacle. An alien parasite has found and infected its unlucky human host, an unwilling transporter who now must continue to infect others in order to survive. Signs of Grant’s transformation are instantly

If you're looking for real horror look elsewhere, but if you're looking for an entertaining film, "Slither" fits the bill.--Joshua Starnes (ComingSoon.net)
...is a nice variation on the classic zombie theme, but is sublimely unencumbered by any deeper, profound metaphor, even with right-wing putz of a mayor who frets about having his favorite soft drink handy when all heck breaks loose. The mission here is to provide light entertainment and that it does. --Andrea Chase (Killer Movie Reviews)
This entertaining schlock shocker really gets under the skin.--Michael Rechtshaffen (Hollywod Reporter)
...isn't for everyone. In fact, it's probably only for a select few - those who revel in this sort of Troma-inspired, bloodsoaked offering and understand what it's trying to do. Those who enjoy their horror straight up won't be impressed, nor will those who prefer their comedy to come without a vomit bag. I believe Slither is exactly what Gunn wanted it to be and there's little doubt that his core audience will be thrilled. But it's unlikely the film's appeal will be as broad as it is deep. --James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
...is a post-modern creature feature for hipsters. Cloying smart, gleefully mischievous and resplendently, stupendously gross. --Keith Breese (FilmCritic.com)
...is ceaseless in its entertainment value, but it never breaks out of its tight cage and rampages across the screen, which this kind of madcap story deserves. --Brian Orndorf (eFilmCritic.com)
...ultimately oozes out of control in its gooey climax before tepidly trailing off, but even then Gunn lobs one hugely funny sexual metaphor our way and Nathan Fillion's got the comic timing to punch the joke. "Slither" is a surprisingly entertaining package. B---Robin and Laura Clifford

It's a very savvy film, aware of its heritage but not full of winking irony or self-referential jokes. It has some wickedly grotesque makeup and special effects, too, which is a plus for a movie like this. It reaches a point where it does sort of become just another zombie film... B+--Eric D. Snider (EricDSnider.com)
Enjoyably schlocky horror flick that achieves the perfect balance of shocks, scares, laughs and gloopy effects sequences. --Matthew Turner (ViewLondon)
It’s unlikely Slither will have much appeal beyond a genre audience, but on this showing Fillion must surely be destined for the big time, imbuing his character with a genuine sense of sweetness, even while he’s up to his neck in killer slug-creatures. Funny, violent, and very gory. 9/10--Richard Strachan (FutureMovies.co.uk)
