Tagline: Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Plot: John Landis's directorial debut, which he also wrote and starred in, reflects his love of classic horror and B-movie monster tales. The Southern California suburb of Canyon Valley is being plagued by bizarre "banana killings," but the culprit is far from human. It is man's missing link, the Schlockthropus, an apeman who has thawed out from a 20-million-year sleep. When Schlock falls in love with a blind girl (Eliza Garrett) who thinks he's a dog, he kidnaps her and flees onto the roof of a local gym. Everyone is after Schlock as he wreaks havoc on the suburban lives of the residents of Canyon Valley, including the army. In chase scenes similar to KING KONG, John Landis spoofs the classic horror and sci-fi missing-link genre with hysterical results. The film features fabulous makeup effects from Rick Baker, who would later win an Oscar for his work on Landis's AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON.
