BOUNCE marks DON ROOS' second feature film as a writer/director. He made his directorial debut in 1998 with his own script, "The Opposite of Sex," which won both critical and popular success. The film starred Christina Ricci (a Golden Globe nominee for her role), Lisa Kudrow (winner of the New York Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress), Martin Donovan and Lyle Lovett. "The Opposite of Sex" garnered Roos two Independent Feature Project Spirit Awards for Best First Feature Film and Best Screenplay as well as a Writers Guild Award nomination for Best Screenplay. The film was a nominee for Grand Special Prize at the 1998 Deauville Film Festival.
Roos began his career as a television writer. His first produced screenplay, "Love Field," was directed by Jonathan Kaplan and earned its star, Michelle Pfeiffer, an Academy Award nomination for her role of a Dallas housewife determined to attend the funeral of John F. Kennedy. Next, Roos adapted a contemporary thriller novel by John Lutz for "Single White Female" directed by Barbet Schroeder and staffing Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. It quickly became one of the hit psychological thrillers of the decade.
His gift for attracting A-list talent to his projects continued when his script "Boys on the Side" drew stars Whoopi Goldberg, Mary-Louise Parker and Drew Barrymore and director Herbert Ross to what became a critically acclaimed film. Then, in 1996, he wrote the remake of the French classic "Diabolique" which attracted a cast that included Sharon Stone, Isabelle Adjani, Kathy Bates and Chazz Palminteri. Next, Roos will direct an ensemble comedy based on an idea he hasn't had yet.
