As an actor, writer, producer and most notably, a director RON HOWARD (Director/ Producer), has been responsible for some of entertainment's most memorable moments. From the comedic turns of Parenthood to the warmth of Cocoon, from the romance of Splash to the exciting drama of Backdraft, Howard's films have touched audiences around the world.

Most recently, Howard directed Edtv starring Matthew McConaughey, Jenna Elfman and Woody Harrelson and prior to that Ransom starring Mel Gibson, Rene Russo, Gary Sinise and Delroy Lindo, which has grossed over $300,000,000 worldwide to date and was the 5th highest grossing movie of 1996.

In 1995, Mr. Howard directed Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris and Kathleen Quinlan; a suspenseful true life drama about the 13th Apollo Mission that lost power and guidance systems 200,000 miles from Earth. Mr. Howard was named Best Director by the Director's Guild of America for his work on Apollo 13.

It has grossed over $335,000,000 worldwide and was nominated for nine Academy Awards® (and four Golden Globe Awards; winning two Academy Awards® (for Best Film Editing and Best Sound. Additionally, Apollo 13 was chosen Favorite Motion Picture and Favorite Dramatic Motion Picture by the People's Choice Awards, Best Picture by the Chicago Film Critics Awards and Best Cast and Best Supporting Actor (Ed Harris) by the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Audiences first came to know Ron Howard from his work as an actor in film and on television. Born in Duncan, Okla., Howard had his first acting role at the age of eighteen months in a Baltimore production of The Seven Year Itch. At the age of four, he made his first screen appearance in The Journey. Ron subsequently appeared in The Music Man and as Opie in the long- running television series The Andy Griffith Show. In the 1970s, he starred in the popular television series Happy Days, and drew favorable reviews for his performances in American Graffiti and The Shootist.

In 1978, when he was 23-years-old, Howard directed his first feature film Grand Theft Auto. A string of popular hits followed, ranging from domestic comedy to science-fiction/fantasy: Night Shift; Splash, which was nominated for the Academy Award® (for Best Screenplay; Cocoon, which won two Academy Awards®; Gung Ho; and Willow.

In 1986, Ron Howard joined forces with Brian Grazer as founders and co-chairmen of Imagine Films Entertainment, Inc. a public company that independently produced feature films. Under this new banner, Howard directed Parenthood, the box office hit that grossed over $100 million and was nominated for two Academy Awards®; Backdraft, which received four Academy Award® (nominations and was one of the highest-grossing film of 1991; and Far and Away, the epic love story starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Since Imagine was formed, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer have made films that have grossed over 2 1/2 billion dollars worldwide.

Among the other films produced by Imagine Films Entertainment are Kindergarten Cop, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger; My Girl, starring Macaulay Culkin and Anna Chlumsky; Housesitter, starring Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn; and Boomerang, starring Eddie Murphy.

The Howard-Grazer team successfully took Imagine Films Entertainment, Inc. private as Imagine Entertainment. Among that company's movies are: Psycho, starring Anne Heche, Julianne Moore, William Macy and Vince Vaughn and directed by Gus Van Sant; The Paper, starring Michael Keaton, Glenn Close, Robert Duvall and Marisa Tomei; The Nutty Professor, starring Eddie Murphy; Liar Liar, starring Jim Carrey; Mercury Rising, starring Bruce Willis; Life, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence; Bowfinger, starring Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy and Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps starring Eddie Murphy.

Mr. Howard was one of the producers along with Mr. Grazer of the critically acclaimed series From the Earth to the Moon on HBO.
