Plot: Adapted from his stage play POOR SUPERMAN, LEAVING METROPOLIS marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Brad Fraser (Queer as Folk, LOVE AND HUMAN REMAINS). The story centers around David (Troy Ruptash), a successful gay artist suffering from a case of artistic block. Seeking inspiration from daily life and ordinary people, he applies for a job waiting tables at a restaurant owned by married couple Matt (Vincent Corazza) and Violet (Cherilee Taylor). Matt and David strike up a friendship informed by their mutual interest in art, but the relationship evolves into something more as Matt finds himself unexpectedly attracted to David. An erotic exploration of the fluid nature of sexuality and gender identity, LEAVING METROPOLIS features a scene-stealing performance by Thom Allison as David's transgendered, HIV-positive friend and roommate Shannon.
