An inventive thriller from the Director of Young Adam
From the hot new Scottish director David Mackenzie (Young Adam) comes a deliciously dark comic thriller about two men who seek refuge in an old country inn filled with eccentric and possibly dangerous characters. Charlie's (co-writer Alastair Mackenzie) wife has left him and he is on a crazed, vengeful mission to Scotland to make matters right. Along the way he picks up Vincent (Johnny Phillips), an amiable small-time criminal on the run. In the middle of nowhere, they run out of gas and are forced to walk to an odd-looking house deep into the highlands. They meet a curious assortment of inhabitants (guests or patients?): among them area a beautiful buy frigid young woman (Victoria Smurfit), some creepy seniors and a visiting gun-wielding deer hunter. Something's not quite right about this situation. the Last Great Wilderness

Charlie's (screenwriter Alastair Mackenzie) wife has left him for a successful pop star, and he wants revenge. He sets out for Scotland's Isle of Skye, where he will burn down the star's mansion. In a cafe, he meets Vincente (Jonny Philips), a Spaniard who asks him for a ride. With his new friend in tow, Charlie soldiers on, only to run out of gas in the middle of nowhere. They walk to the nearest residence--where they are greeted by a suspicious and motley group of people who may or may not be part of a bizarre cult that lives in the area. Charlie and Vincente will be staying longer then they expected, and it is going to be a strange visit! David Mackenzie's (YOUNG ADAM) first film is an offbeat hybrid of horror and comedy with an effective score by the Pastels.
