Plot: Brazilian college student Carlos (Murilo Benicio) waits for his girlfriend, Julia (Carolina Ferraz) to show up at a movie theater. Sandra Werneck's heartfelt romantic comedy uses this setup as a springboard to examine three different "what if" versions of Carlos' life. In the first, Julia fails to show, and Carlos marries another woman. Next, Julia shows up for the date and the two of them wind up married. Finally, in the third, Julia does not show, and Carlos is seen as a confused bachelor in his 30's. POSSIBLE LOVES received the 2001 Sundance Jury Prize in Latin American Cinema.
