Plot: This musical odyssey from Palm Pictures combines up-close and personal performances by stunning world musicians, excellent musical production and sound, and snippets of interviews with some compelling thinkers. The film, 1 GIANT LEAP, is organized into chapters, each of which begins with a philosophical quote which is then explored through a song, pieces of interviews, performances by musicians, and roving photography. The interviews involve prominent American figures Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, and Dennis Hopper, who receive equal time and treatment as such fascinating personalities as George Nuku, a sculptor in New Zealand; Linesh Shesh, a hardware store owner in Mambai, India; and Fred Reed, an indigenous man in Sydney, Australia. The music is likewise balanced between many artists, with performances by stars Baaba Maal (Dakar, Senegal), Speech (Atlanta, USA), and Linton Kwesi Johnson (London, UK) mixed with those by lesser known T.O. Jazz (Accra, Ghana), Shrinvas (Bangalore, India), Asha Bhosle (Jaipur, India), and many many more.

Created by Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto, who were commissioned by Palm Pictures to travel the world with a laptop and a video camera filming the movie and recording the music, 1 GIANT LEAP is a unique and inspiring journey through world music.
