Peterson's indie saga looks at an all-female, partially lesbian punk band, the No Exits, and its adventures in post-grunge, Bill Gates-controlled Seattle. These women, along with their friend Jimmy, try to stay afloat- playing music, publishing 'zines and weathering turbulent relationships- doing things on their own terms as the spectre of corporate America looms larger and larger over them.

"Hip...Raw. It Has Life! A funny riff...the film proves oddly endearing." -The East Bay Express
Slaves to the Underground is a fresh, honest, and free-spirited look at life on the cutting edge. Set in the alternative subculture of clubs and coffee houses, the story centers on a romantic triangle - Suzy, the brash lead singer of an all-girl band; Jimmy, an idealistic writer; and Shelly, who is torn between them.
