ICE CUBE reprises his role as Craig in Next Friday. One of the most influential artists of his generation, Ice Cube - who performs triple duty as star, screenwriter and producer on Next Friday - has emerged as a major player whose cachet carries equal weight in the feature film and music realms. Not only has Ice Cube proven to be one of the most distinctive voices in hip-hop, he has been one of the few artists to successfully crossover into acting, directing, writing and production. With all this experience under his belt, it was inevitable that Ice Cube would become a mini-mogul of sorts with his production entity Cubevision, whose interests traverse all aspects of audio-visual entertainment from films to music to television and new media. The production house recently signed a three-picture deal with New Line Cinema. Ice Cube's auspicious acting debut was with the role of Doughboy in John Singleton's Boyz ‘N the Hood (1991), named after an early rap tune penned by Cube at age 16. His acting career soon took off – amongst his credits are Trespass, Charles Burnett's The Glass Shield, Singleton's Higher Learning, Friday, (which Cube also co-wrote), Anaconda, The Players Club (he also directed, wrote and executive produced) and the Warner Bros. film, Three Kings, co-starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg.
The South Central-born artist started out as a force in the music industry with his incendiary lyrics and muscular vocals. His highly-acclaimed first solo album, "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted," proved critical - if somewhat controversial. Success followed with such acclaimed albums as "The Predator,” with its hit single "It Was a Good Day" and "Lethal Injection." His most recent music projects include The Player’s Club soundtrack and “War and Peace: Vol. I (The War Disk),” which was certified platinum. Cube will release his forthcoming album, “War and Peace: Vol. II (The Peace Disk),” in Fall 1999.
