More recently, she played Haley Joel Osmont’s distraught mother in the international hit, The Sixth Sense, for which she received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She was also seen in John Singleton’s remake of Shaft, starring Samuel L Jackson.

Collette has recently completed filming on Stephen Daldry’s adaptation of Michael Cunningham’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Hours, with Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep, and on Roger Michell’s Changing Lanes with Ben Affleck and Samuel L Jackson. Both films are due for release in 2002.
