JORDI MOLLÁ (Capt. Juan Seguín) is one of Spain’s most recognized and versatile artistic talents. The Barcelona native trained as an actor at the Barcelona Institute of Theatre, his two dozen big screen credits include collaborations with some of Spain’s most renowned filmmakers, including Bigas Luna (“Jamon, Jamon,” “Son de mar,” “Volavérunt”), Montxo Armendáriz (“Historias del Kronen”), Pedro Almodovar (“La flor de mi secreto”), Ricardo Franco (“La buena estrella”) and Fernando Colomo (“Los años bárbaros”). He has received three Goya nominations (Spain’s highest film honor) for his performances in “Segunda piel,” “La buena estrella” and “La Celestina.”
Mollá recently made his American film debut as Diego Delgado, the drug smuggler who initially befriends, then betrays, George Jung (Johnny Depp) in Ted Demme’s “Blow” and recently co-starred alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay sequel, “Bad Boys 2.”
Mollá has also directed two short films – “Walter Peralta” (Alcalá de Henares Award; Generalitat de Cataluña National Cinematographic Award; Goya nomination as Best Documentary Short Film) and “No me importaria irme contigo.” His first feature film as a director, “No somos nadie,” debuted in 2002.
In addition to his celebrated filmmaking career, Mollá is also a respected painter (self-trained) and writer. The multi-faceted talent has written two books – Las Primeras Veces and Agua Estancada.
