Plot: For his debut feature film, Todd Solondz wrote, directed, and starred in FEAR, ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION, portraying Ira Ellis, an awkward, neurotic playwright. Ira's life is as uncontrollable as his hair. He dumps his steady for an outrageous artist, but the artist drops him before he can even get her phone number, so he seduces another girl who swiftly deserts him. Then, his steady reappears...The film, which hints at the caustic wit displayed in WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE and HAPPINESS, is a strange comedy that owes a debt to Woody Allen.
