 Synopses for Super Troopers (2001)
1.

The fine art of handing out a freeway speeding ticket gets a deviously funny twist in this smart-alecky farce written and performed by the comedy troop Broken Lizard (consisting of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske). These pranksters in patrol cars (led by their long-suffering commander Brian Cox) are little more than overgrown frat boys in a campus rivalry with the brawling Vermont bullies of the local police force, and they know how to have fun on the highway patrol. This skit-like collection of comic moments clumps from one scene to another like a variety show, but the gags are more hit than miss, thanks largely to terrific ensemble work and inspired motorist mind games. With a nod to such 1970s comedies as Animal House and Caddyshack, this "boys in blue just wanna have fun" farce is hardly sophisticated, just clever, raucous fun. --Sean Axmaker

2.Thorny, Rabbit, Mac and Foster are passable Vermont State Troopers. Stationed in the boonies on the Canadian border, they spend the bulk of their time playfully toying with speeders, stoned joyriders and taking impounded sports cars for spins on the open highway. When they're not on the road, they try to stay on the good side of their fatherly mentor, Captain O'Hagan, and avoid their tactless, thick-necked compatriot, Officer Rod Farva. All in all, they find their work to be pleasantly unchallenging.

Unfortunately, their quiet existence hasn't gone unnoticed. The state has targeted their low volume station for a potential budget slash. Hoping to avoid the axe, the guys buckle down to impress the higher ups. But success is hard to come by. First, they find it's not so easy to change their brazen style. Then things get more complicated as the Troopers start to hit obstacles set by their law enforcement rivals, the shifty Local Earlville Police force. The local cops smell the demise of their State competition and gladly do what they can to speed the shut down.

As things begin to look bleak, the State Troopers' new "by the book" operation produces an unexpected gift. During a routine traffic stop, they uncover a drug smuggling operation running across the border to Canada. Sensing salvation, the Troopers race the clock to crack the ring and save their jobs. But they aren't the only ones in the hunt. The Local cops are also on the case, hoping to crack it themselves and put the last nail in their adversary's coffin.

The sprint is on. An elusive cartoon monkey, a Winnebago full of dope, a bear-groping hunter and a sticky forbidden love affair between Trooper Foster and lovely Local Officer Ursula Hanson all cloud the picture as the Troopers scrap for survival.

3.Stoned college kids heading across the border for french fries and gravy, speeders, drug smugglers and just about any other law breaker would do best to avoid the barren stretch of highway presided over by the SUPER TROOPERS. Thorny, Mac, Rabbit, Foster and Farva ( Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Erik Stolhanske, Paul Soter and Kevin Heffernan) - are Vermont State Troopers who act more like fraternity brothers in uniform ... with mustaches, badges, guns, handcuffs, sirens and a blow up doll. Well actually, make that Thorny, Mac and Foster as the fraternity brothers, Rabbit as the lowly pledge and Farva as the guy who just doesn't get it.

Committed to pranks and a love of syrup, the SUPER TROOPERS have turned arrest into an art form and become specialists at screwing with motorist's minds while screwing up on the job. True, they might take your car out of the impound lot for a joy ride; stage a hold up just for the hell of it; or come up with some ingenious ways to use their "equipment," but overall these guys are about justice...with a twist. And they were trained by the best - their crusty mentor and leader - Captain O'Hagan (Brian Cox).

To a SUPER TROOPER, the only thing better than a good prank is one-upping arch rivals - the Spurbury Local Police, led by Chief Grady (Daniel VonBargen). The Locals, with the exception of Officer Ursula Hanson (Marisa Coughlan), are always in the way of a good time. But the town isn't big enough for both police forces. Budget cuts mean one force will have to go, and odds are that means the Troopers should start reading the "want ads."

Aware of the fact that their heads are on the chopping block, the SUPER TROOPERS try to play by the rules. But with Farva on the road and the potential for pranks ever present, the outlook is grim. That is until a dead body, a stash of pot and an obscene little monkey enter the scene. The SUPER TROOPERS spring into action, but they are not the only super sleuths in town. The local police are also on the case - in more ways than one. A race to the wire ensues as both forces try to save their jobs by solving the case and impressing Governor Jessman (Lynda Carter).

4.Always looking for action, five over-enthusiastic, but under-stimulated Vermont State Troopers raise hell on the highway, keeping motorists anxiously looking in their rear view mirrors. Between an ongoing feud with the local cops over whose you-know-what is bigger and the state government wanting to shut them down, the Super Troopers find themselves patrolling the boundaries of good taste as they hilariously and unwittingly skid towards solving the crime of their lives.

5.Super Trooper

- Captain O'Hagen tries in vain to control the imaginations and hormones of his bumbling team of five Vermont Highway Patrolmen. But when the opportunity to solve a real crime rolls their way, the formerly inept Super Troopers pounce into action to become highway heroes.

Office Space

- Unable to endure another mind-numbing day at Initech Corporation, cubicle slave Peter Gibbons gets fired up--and decides to get fired. Armed with a leisurely new attitude and a sexy new girlfriend, he soon masters the art of neglecting his job, which quickly propels him into the ranks of upper management!
